I don’t think of myself as a writer, or activist. What I am is a person with rather strong opinions and a high bullshit intolerance. These things prompt me to respond to things I see and hear, and so I’ve found blogging to be a great outlet for those responses (and gets me in far less trouble than punching someone in the head). I generally go right for the topics which set most people off (ie – religion, politics, sex, gays, etc), which I think is why I have frequent visitors and comments. Agree or disagree with me, but chances are you’re not sitting on the fence over whatever it is I happen to address.
Why ‘You Made Me Say It!’?
Because I primarily write as a response to provocation, rather than to merely pass the time. In a perfect world, I’d probably have no reason to blog, or if I did, I’d probably not write much worth reading.
I’ve lived in the Philadelphia area for nearly all of my life, which has no doubt contributed to my passionate, outspoken personality (although I’d argue the red hair has something to do with it too, as well as the Italian upbringing). Philadelphia is a very blue collar, no shit, pragmatic, city which often gets slighted and falls short of the greatness it deserves yet hope is never lost and the fire that fuels the fight never goes out. It was in the taverns of this city that revolution was born, and to this city more great minds came to construct arguably the greatest human experiment ever, the United States of America. It’s also a city with a rich art history, boasting the nation’s first art school and such notable artists as Peale, Eakins, Parrish and of course the Wyeths who called this area home. I’m proud to represent such a place in my name.
However, I was not born here. I’m a product of Kansas and as such, I’m a Kansas City Chiefs fan. I love the Eagles, but the Chiefs are my first love, and I’ve stayed true to my team. I was born when they were champions, and hopefully I won’t die before they’re champions again.
Why don’t you moderate posts?
Because I believe in free speech. I know many consider their blogs as a private forum, not a public one, as if it were their living room, so they justify moderating, editing, and deleting comments they don’t care for or which too harshly criticize their positions. Well even if you were in my living room, know that I would expect you to always speak your mind and not curb your tongue (and expect that in your home, I won’t hold back either); however, also know that you’d better be prepared to defend your positions properly, for I most certainly will defend mine. No quarter should be asked, for it won’t be given. Argumentation is an art, and it’s respected here as such and as a means to test, hone, or abandon your positions. Naturally, there will be trolls who lack such respect. Generally, if they’re known trolls, I will ignore them and encourage you to do the same, but feel free to respond any way you wish. It’s your time.
