Hey you,

I would suggest working on your reading comprehension skills. Those items weren't premises for a definition. They WERE definitions, as in, and I quote, "[the GR] can be expressed in various ways and I have found four, which can be simplified to these." In other words, here are 4 different ways I've found the GR defined.

I have no idea what's prompting your first question or your second one. I think your confusion comes from thinking there's one and only one GR. There are at least four variants of it, and I find the Christian one the worst of the bunch.

So after this clarification, perhaps you can have another go at grasping the post and if you have any further questions still, fire away and I'll try and help you out.

this is the most ridiculous thing i've ever heard. premise 4 totally makes premises 1 through 3 meaningless:
1 don't do to others if you would not want it done to you
2 do to others if you would infact want it done to you
X 3 charity is reciprocal (not sure how that fits in, so we'll omit it)
4 My wants are everyone's wants. (Everyone wants the same things.)
5 Therefore, if I want something, then I should do it for others because they all want it too.

However, supposing I were a malicious sort who wanted to hurt puppies, does that mean that other people also want to hurt puppies? No, infact it does not.

Additionally, supposing I were a benevolent sort of person, does that mean that every good deed I set out and do for others is infact welcome? No, it does not.

how does this new argument of yours disambiguate the golden rule? It does not.
